The Mayor’s Alliance for Persons with Disabilities recognized MTC for our outstanding partnership with Moffitt Cancer Center (MCC), which was named Employer of the Year at the 2025 Awards Ceremony. This innovative collaboration has made significant strides in advancing workforce inclusion for individuals with intellectual disabilities.
As a testament to the rigor of the curriculum developed through this partnership, Moffitt Cancer Center has waived the typical six-month work experience requirement for its Environmental Services (ES) Technician 1 position for MTC graduates who have completed the ES program certification. This forward-thinking initiative is helping qualified individuals with disabilities gain access to meaningful career opportunities. The curriculum includes both classroom instruction and hands-on experience in a simulated patient room, which was thoughtfully constructed and donated by Moffitt Cancer Center. The program is also licensed by the Florida Department of Education, ensuring it meets high educational standards.
The MTC/Moffitt collaboration was previously celebrated at the Spring 2019 North America “Disability Matters” event, where it was recognized as a best-practice partnership for its dedication to working with community organizations and providing sustainable employment opportunities to individuals with diverse abilities.
The most recent class celebrated their graduation from the program on December 12!
