Life Skills Training Opportunities

Pre-Vocational Instruction

Prevocational services prepare individuals for greater independence and employment through real-world learning and work experiences.

Life Skills Development 4 (LSD 4) is a time-limited (36 months) program that follows Vocational Rehabilitation guidelines. It focuses on workplace readiness through unpaid internships, volunteer opportunities, and non-job-specific training. Participants must have employment-related goals in their support plan.

Elevated Life Skills

MTC’s Life Skills Services are designed to maximize independence in daily living. Curriculum areas include:

  • Personal health and safety
  • Socialization and communication
  • Decision-making and problem solving
  • Community inclusion and enrichment

Our dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professionals provide hands-on, individualized guidance to help each person reach their goals and improve quality of life.

Classes are structured, small-group, and tailored to adult learners. Instruction covers communication, interpersonal skills, financial literacy, transportation management, and other key life skills—all woven into vocational training and pre-placement programs.

Day Services programming is offered weekdays on both MTC campuses (Tampa and Brandon). Classes are small and geared to the abilities and affinities of the students.

MTC Fine Arts Studios and Gallery

Where potential meets opportunity.
With encouragement and instruction, MTC’s artists create expressive, meaningful works that support both personal growth and professional achievement.

The Joy McCann Culverhouse Gallery at our Tampa campus showcases curated works, while artists also participate in local shows and juried festivals. Proceeds from artwork sales directly support the artists, with a portion sustaining the studios at Tampa and Sabal Park.
